Training and Professional Development
There are several opportunities that are offered to our district staff, families and community members of Aurora. Some of these trainings include Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), PREPaRE (School Crisis Prevention and Intervention Program), and Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA), Nonviolent Crisis Intervention through the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), Gender Spectrum, and Welcoming Schools. There are also special trainings that are just for teachers. One of them is SMART in Education through Passageworks.
We also offer a number of tailored workshops, specific to Aurora Public Schools practices and needs. These include Risk and Threat Assessment Training, Trauma-Informed Care through the Neurosequential Model in Education, Academic Behavior through Content (Course 1: Foundations and Course 2: Integration and Implementation), Child Sexual Abuse Prevention,
